Converting VCD to DVD - Possible & How?

Post by oka »

I have VideoStudio 11 Plus and MovieFactory 6.

I had created two VCD disks a while back and now I use DVDs. I would like to import these VCDs into my computer and re-write them to a single DVD. If this is possible, how can I achieve this?

Thanks.

This is possible but why would you want to do this? The VCD quality is poor enough as it is, converting that to mpeg2 from mpeg1 is only going to deteriorate the quality. I would leave these alone because they will not look better once you are done with them.

Can I Import VCD Content?

Post by oka »

Yes I know about the lower quality; but I will like to know how. I play these two VCDs once in a while so I would rather use just one disk.

As in DVD content IMPORT, is there a way to IMPORT VCD content instead of converting to MPEG file?

If possible to IMPORT VCD content, how is this done also?

Thanks

Sorry but someone else will have to come to your aid here. I have only one SVCD left because I could not be bothered to redo the whole project. All the others I started again from the source files in DV AVI and rendered to DVD. The SVCD is already in mpeg2 but at much lower bitrates than used for DVD.

Since I do not have any VCD disks to try, I cannot help further.

Surely you'd just import the mpeg1 vcd files and make a new movie with the both on the timeline then render out to dvd mpeg2?

If you look at a SVCD file structure using Windows Explorer you will find the video files are kept in a folder MPEG2. You can import them into VideoStudio like any other MPEG2 file.

VCD is slightly different and here you will find a MPEGAV folder containing a file with a DAT extension. Copy that to your hard drive.
Rename DAT to MPG and you can now import this into VideoStudio.
