Lucky Number 13 - New PI Version?

Post by bobinorlando »

It's that time of year again - time for a new version of PhotoImpact.

Anyone know if there will there be a new version this fall?

There has been some talk about a new version. Historically, the odd numbered versions of PI were the more troublesome ones i.e. PI 11  Hence, I'm not so sure if I should get excited

Yes there will be a Photoimpact 13 and it will be released when it has been developed and ready. I am sure that you would prefer to wait until the software developers have completed development rather than try to rush out a program to meet a deadline and then end up having to produce service packs and bug fixes.

Wow, developed and ready  that would almost be a world first, wouldn't it?

Wouldn't everyone? That's not the way it worked in the past though. Just look at PI 11 and PI 12 8) PI 12 is the "patch" that should have fixed PI 11 8)

Sorry, just had to vent this one

New version worth the wait

Post by texasfrank »

I'm glad you're waiting to release the new version until it is ready. I'd rather wait than waste time trying to resolve bugs or features that aren't quite right.

If it's going to be released in English at all. Japanese and Chinese versions are out for 2 months or so.

It would seem foolish to ignore the large number of American, British, Australian, and Canadian users simply because they don't want to translate PhotoImpact into English. I suspect it's more likely that Corel has a schedule for when a product is released. They want to give PSP-X2 it's time in the limelight before they trot out PhotoImpact. Since they are producing a large number of photo editing products they have to release them very carefully in order to make a profit before the next one is released.

The real question is why Corel bought up products that they didn't need and are now in the position of having too many stars in their tiny little universe.

Simple, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em or buy 'em  You can then decide who dies and who lives :?
