Regarding titling
I'm coming from Pinnacle Studio 7,8,9 because of persistant oos problems. In Those products, I add a title to the title track and then drag any of the video transitions in front of the title and/or behind it to allow the title to transition on and then off the screen. The titler also has options for scrolling on to the screen, but obviously they are limited compared to being able to use any video transition you want. In Video Studio 8, when I drag a transition and try and drop it in front of the title I get a "not allowed" symbol. Is there a way to use the video transitions with titles or am I limited to whatever effects are located within the titler?

You cannot add the video transitions to titles. The only options available as those under the animation section for titles. If you play around, you can get some things that look pretty decent. However, speed and flexibility are not the strong point. Some people do titles in Cool 3-D, but I do not find the program very easy to use. The titling program in MS Pro is more flexible. However, as my version is older, I need to upgrade in order to use it with effectively.
Well, you cannot add transitions to the Title track, but you can add a transition before and after the clip that your title appears in (using the Video track). Just remember that there will be slightly less time to read your title, because the title borrows time from the clips on either side of it (and doesn't squeeze them apart).
So a 3-second title with a 1-second crossfade transition on either side will be bright and clear only for 2 seconds. At each end of the title will be 1/2 second during which it fades in, or out.
