Video/sound out of sync using sjj805 template for youtube

Post by ruggy1 »

Starting with a 5 minute DVD that is perfectly in-sync, I followed Steve's (sjj805) method of creating a Youtube template. After rendering to Youtube (divx6 mpeg4) format in VS10+ the resulting compressed file loses sync almost immediately and is out by about 7 seconds at the end of 5 minutes. Can anyone help me here. I have not had OOS problems for ages since I bought my ADVC converter, although this is not used in this process. Many Thanks

Very often MPEG source files can contain PTS (Progam Time Stamp) errors that are not evident until you try to render the video to another format. I take it your video is imported from a DVD and so will be an MPEG2 file.

You can try running that original MPEG2 file through either
Womble or VideoRedo. Both programs have tools for correcting PTS errors. Failing that try to render the MPEG2 file to a fresh MPEG2 file
[Share] [Create file] and use the setting "Same as first clip" and turn 'Smart Render' OFF.

When that has completed try to convert the new MPEG2 file to YouTube format.

Thanks for the tips Steve, but neither Womble or VideoRedo could produce an MPEG-2 file that did not go badly out of sync when processed through VS10+ for YouTube. I think the problem is the original MPEG2 file. I will try and find the original AVI file and try again.
