MF6 and PhotoImpact 12 DVD MenuMaker: How?

Post by CBC »

I'm trying to create a DVD menu using the DVD MenuMaker plugin. When I reach the 'export' part, there's an option to send it to MF5, which is grayed out because I have MovieFactory 6. When I opt to export to a user-specified path, it saves a UFO file, and just a UFO file. Shouldn't there be a INI or CFG file of some sort as well? And... where do these files go?

Odd that as long as PI12 and MF6 have been out, there's no provision for easily working with menus for MF6 using the PI plugin

No you only get a UFO file.
The other files are for special effects such as the menu thumbnails sliding in from various directions.

Currently there isn't an editor to create your own, though I have done so manually - by studying a few existing ones and working out the syntax.

I have already passed a suggestion on to the development team for a special effects editor to be considered for inclusion in future versions.

So... there's no way to create a basic menu in PI-12? Don't care about the sliding menus and stuff, was just trying to create a basic screen with thumbnails...

Yes, it works without those other files, you just need the UFO file.
There are a few we have made here:

I appreciate you trying to assist, and I'm sure those other menus are great -- but -- I was wondering what I need to do with the UFO file that the PI12 DVD MenuMaker plugin created. Is there a particular directory within the MF6 program directory that I need to place the file in for it to work?

Again, I'm not looking for menus created by others, I'm trying to use one I created myself.

You can create your own menu folders below this path (For 4x3 - alter it to 16x9 accordingly)

C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Content\Menu Template\4x3\

For example you want to create a folder named "Bonus"
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6\Content\Menu Template\4x3\Bonus

The new folder will appear in your drop down list of available menus:
