Switching effortlessly between Track one and overlay 1?

Post by Icelander »

I am currently editing a wedding video. At several times I have two or even more videos which are recorded at the same time and place, but with different angles (church, reception speeches). I only use the sound from one camera and thought there must be a way to have the tracks side by side, on the main track and overlay one, sync them at the beginning and then cut out parts of the overlay track when I want to use the main track. I found no way of doing this as the software refuses to cut bits out of overlay1 for some reason. I had too use the crop handles to shorten it in the beginning, and then add the pieces from the clip over and over again, syncing the sound each time. It worked for one song but doing it for most of the vid gives me nightmares. Is there an easier way to do this?

Yes. Upgrade to v11+ that allows you to cut on the overlay tracks. Obviously you are using an earlier version so you are going about it the right way for that version (IMHO).

The alternative would be to cut it in the main track then move it to the overlay.

Yes I am using 10+, forgot to mention that. Actually I was certain I was doing something wrong, instead of program limitations :? . Well at least I now have a reason to upgrade :!:

Thank you.
