Well, I'm back with just MSP7+ and update patch 3 installed on my brand new C drive with only XP+SP2, Windows Media Encoder, my audio and agp drivers, and absolutely nothing else installed.
Although I'm able to edit and save avi's without trouble, making wmv's always crashes my system with a must close or render freeze.
When one of my HDD failed 6 weeks ago, I hooked up another and was able to somehow make wmv's with blazing speed of any size. I was unable to crash MSP7. Now I've 2 new HDD's.
Is there a certain order WME, MSP7, the update patch3, and anything else gets installed?
Thx
PS - I received VS9 bundled the other week but I'd really like to get MSP7 back running at high speed like I once had. I know it can be done but it seems to be all trial and error.

Zoobie,
You have way more control creating your .wmv file using WME than MSP. Since you do not have much on your system and there seems to be a conflict somewhere, I would just start all over again. Format and do a clean install. Install all your necessary drivers, your Ulead products and then WME. Do a trial run by encoding with WME standalone and then with MSP. Compare timing and results. IMHO, its best to edit in MSP and render out .avi, then import .avi into WME and encode to .wmv.
As for 16:9 encoding for the internet, 480x270 works great.
