In the past I've transfered video from VCR by recording it first to my JVC miniDV videocamera then capturing the video from the JVC using the firewire connection directly into VS10+.
It made sense to take advantage of the pass-thru feature of the JVC and it all seems to work fine except that after VS has been capturing for 4 mins 38 secs it stops the capture. The JVC has no miniDV tape in it (if it does have a tape in, VS captures the tape content instead of the pass-thru from the VCR).
My guess is that VS is reacting to a signal similar to that which puts the JVC in standby mode after several minutes when in record mode but not actually recording. However even after VS stops the capture, the video from the VCR continues to play on the JVC's screen as well as in VS. How can I persuade VS not to give up capturing after 4 mins?
The JVC is model GR-DV900AA
Thanks
David
