Slide Show - timing to background music

Post by ralphtrent »

Issue with VS11+

Hello

I have created a slide show with 44 images. I have a song that is 4 minutes and 29 seconds long. I have the timing of the show to be the tempo and duration of the background music. The show goes through all the images in half that time of the song (about 2 mintues). Once the pics are done, the slide show goes through the images again until the song is done.

What am I doing wrong? Am i interpreting this timeing option incorrectly, or should the slide show run only once through out the song?

Thanks,
Ralph

I don't use Wizard or whatever you are using, I work exclusively with the Editor. When I do a slideshow I divide the time of the song by the number of pics I have. In your case that would be 241 (4 minutes, 29 seconds = 241 seconds, roughly) divided by 44 = 5.5 seconds. So I would set my image duration for 5 or 6 seconds. Obvously, that would not sync up exactly, so I would have to adjust the music's playback speed. Doing this by a small percentage does not distort the music. If a larger adjustment to the speed is necessary than I would rather adjust some of the images to make it fit.

Yeah, thats what I wound up doing, but I was hoping by spending the 100 bucks, I would have gotten software that does what it says. :-)

What you wanted to buy was a magic wand

It kinda did what you asked it to do but like the other responder I tend to prefer to do these things manually.

Try using Smartsound Quicktracks.
Found on the [Audio] tab.
It generates music to the exact length of your requirements.

Is that in the wizard or the editor?

After looking at this tool, i do not see how I can use my own music. Plus the problem is not that the song is too short, but the slide show goes through the images before the song is complete.

I have tried to set each images timing manually by clicking on each frame and setting the timing one by one, is there a quicker way to set all the frame's timings at once?

Thanks again,
Ralph

in properties you can set the default duration of each still.

What I have been doing instead of trying to match the timing is trying to match the mood of the music.

I use slower/longer transitions during slow ballads and I use no transitions and faster transitions during up tempo music. It's working well for me
