the Audio and video slips - VS10+
I have gone through a number of the topic discussed in this forum and can't find any reference to my problem so apologies if it has already been said before.
I am trying to produce a wedding video for my cousin but whilst it looks ok in the preview window when I reate disc?the overall movie gets longer by 3 second or so but the audio remains in the same place. What seems to happen is that at the end of a particular clip, whilst the audio continues, the end part of the video repeats itself.
Any thoughts?

The total length of my movie is 1:19:22/19 and looks ok in the preview window, however when I go to the hare?tab and click to reate Disc?the total length increases to 1:19:25/18. When I burn this movie to a DVD at about the hour mark the video changes at my edit position but then replays the last couple of seconds from that last edit again but the audio remains as if it hadn.
Ie even deleted the offending sections and brought them in again but it still happens.
This morning I tried to create the DVD again using just one AVI file of the completed movie. Again ok on the preview window but the audio and video went out of sync again at about the hour point.
The strange thing is when i edit this file and remove the beginning and the end, it works. i can only guess that it could be somthing to do with the lenght of the movie. Has anyone else experienced this kind of a problem? is the max movie size about an hour?

OK, since you completely ignored my advice to read the Please Read First post I'll ask you directly:
From what device did you capture the clips?
How was that device connected to your pc?
What are the clip properties (right click on a clip)?
What are the project properties (File > Project Properties)?
Are you following the Suggested Workflow of creating a DVD-compatible MPEG-2 file before burning?

How was that device connected to your pc?
Using a IEEE-1394 cable
What are the clip properties (right click on a clip)?
They are all AVI files
What are the project properties (File > Project Properties)?
PAL (25 fps)

DV Audio -- PAL, 32.000 kHz, 12 Bit, Stereo
Are you following the Suggested Workflow of creating a DVD-compatible MPEG-2 file before burning?
As this is my first project, I was following the manual. Having read your suggested workflow I would agreed that this method was followed. i didn't click onto the share tab until i was completeing finished with my movie.
Is there anything elese you need?

When people follow the manual they sometimes run into problems.
I know. But it happens.
Try reading the Suggested Workflow.
To sum it up, after you are finished editing and saved your project you click on the Share tab and choose Create Video File (not Create Disc) and choose the PAL DVD template. This will produce a DVD-compatible MPEG-2 file from your dv-avi files.
Next you will clear the timeline by choosing File > New Project. You will then go straight to Share > Create Disc. When the burn window opens you will click on the Add Video Files (Add Media) button and insert your MPEG-2 file. Then you proceed to add a menu, chapters, or whatever you wish.

My last post seems to have dropped off.
i did as suggested and the MPEG 2 file was fine, no problems at all when i watched the playback. But when i burned the dvd using the dv-avi file the problem was back again at the same point. the sound carried on but the video replayed a cople of seconds at the end of the edit at the hour mark.
now i have a file that is 5.3MB long so i guess i will need to reduce the bitrate to fit it on the DVD. (providing i can overcome my sync problem).
any other thoughts? has any one else had this kind of problem?

You don't burn a dv-avi file to DVD, you burn the MPEG-2. That's the whole purpose to creating the DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file.

Sorry I¡¦m confusing myself now
I did as you suggested. ie I created a video file using the PAL DVD template and produced a 5.3MB file, which I presume is the Mpeg2 file. When i play this file back in Windows Media Centre everything works ok. This is what i want to put on the dvd.
I then restarted the computer, went into VS then share=>create disc and using the left hand icon, added the 5.3MB mpg file. about 2 and half hours later (which i guess is where it get rendered again), a dvd was produced. But when i play it back the additional video frames are added at the same point as before and this time the movie stops with 30sec to go and starts from the very beginning again.
What I would like to do is to burn the 5.3MB file onto a dvd. I¡¦m even getting to the point that I don¡¦t care if I have the menu screen any more.
Can you let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks in advance
