Ulead DMF 6plus & Dvd folders

Post by Crys_D »

Hi,

I read in the user manuel that selecting "Create dvd folders" is how to enable the dvds im burning to play in a dvd player and also on a computer. However, whenever i select this option, my dvd's still do not play on my computer. Infact, all that shows is a blank screen. At first i thought my windows media player settings were off but then when i tested it in Real player as well as in the Intervideo player program, and still, nothing came up. I even tested it in my external burner to see if the burned dvd can only be played in the burner itself. And still, nothing.

So, if anyone can make a suggestion I would greatly appreciate any advice.

When you create dvd folders on your harddisk it's the same as on the burned dvd (an duplicate image).
To playback the dvd from your harddisk you need a software player that can do this such as windvd, powerdvd, Nero Showtime, vlc and a few others. WMP doesn't do this (I don't think).
Using Windvd, powerdvd or nero showtime you select 'Playback from folder" or similar wording. Then naviagate to your VIDEO_TS folder on the harddisk, select it and press OK.

To burn a dvd of these folders you then need to burn a dvd as DVD- VIDEO using Nero or MF features from the main menu "Burn DVD Folders".
The benefit of creating dvd folders first instead of burning a dvd is you can test it using your software player first, if it looks good then burn a dvd.

MF can burn these dvd folders and also an image file to create a dvd-video disk. I usually use Nero to do this.

My workflow is usually to Uncheck the "Burn Disk", create the dvd folders on the harddisk, test the dvd by playing it from the harddisk, then burning the dvd folders as a separate process.

Hope this helps
