I have imported an MPG file into VS11 then performed a 'create sound file' function. The file I get out (a song from a movie soundtrack) is fine....except that it's volume is very low. Editing the file with audio edit tools cannot seem to raise the volume to a 'normal' level. The original video/audio file was AC3 and was turned into a WAV by VS11.
There is also a seemingly unrelated problem with this same movie file and that is I cannot seem to rip it from DVD without getting the "producers special comments" embedded within the movie audio. The DVD plays fine on a player and ripping it in "movie only" mode should remove the extra audio track but does not.
Any ideas out there guru's?

Re: Low Volume Audio Problem
I will answer this in two parts.
Part 1. Volume.
Firstly you need to check the volume level for recording in the windows control panel. When you go to Windows Volume Control it will default to the volume level controls for playback.
To access the volume levels for recording please view this link:
No Sound
Further tweaking - including amplification of the sound track can be done by exporting the sound file as a WAV file and then opening it with Audacity - a FREE Audio editor
Part 2. Producers Comments

This tends to suggest you are attempting to copy a commercially produced (Hollywood etc.) DVD which are normally copy protected. The forum are unable for legal reasons to assist members to circumvent any copyright issues or protection schemes. I am therefore unable to offer further assistance in this regard.landtuna wrote:......

Re: Low Volume Audio Problem
This is the fix I eventually used but was wondering why the audio plays at normal volume in VS11 and/or other DVD players but the audio is very quiet after splitting out. Thanks.sjj1805 wrote:I will answer this in two parts.

Actually, the DVD in question is a region-free, un-copyright protected movie. It does have a "special features" section, one of which are the director's comments. It is this comment track I have trouble getting rid of in VS11.sjj1805 wrote:Part 2. Producers Comments
