Here's a couple of ways to do that.
Fade to Black-Transistion.
1. You need to use a black color clip.
2. Overlap the color clip onto the end of your video clip. This will create a transition. Unless you changed the default, it should be a cross-fade.
3. Locate in the Transition Effects>FX library, the Fade to black transition. Drag this to the Transition on your timeline.
Fade to Black-Video Filter
1. You only need to use the video clip. No color clip used.
2. Locate in your Video Filter>Darkroom library, the Brightness & Contrast filter.
3. Drag this to your video clip.
4. Open your Effects Manager if it is not already open. Click on the Brightness Contrast, and then place a Keyframe near the end of the clip. Do not change any settings on this key frame.
5. Go to the last keyframe, and slide the Brightness and Contrast to the far left (-100).
Now your video should fade to black.

There is a third way, using Overlay Transparent 1 to 100% and adjusting the keyframes to the desired effect. This assumes your default background is black.
This technique is particularly useful to fade from a higher track to a lower one without having to move the lower one up, such as when compositing.
I take it you don't have the instruction manual. Perhaps you would find it useful to downloadit.
