Msg From Corel Concerning Ulead Products

Post by jday »

I received an e-mail today from Corel's CEO that addressed former Ulead customers. Here is the text:

Dear Valued Customer:
On behalf of everyone at Corel and Ulead, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Corel family. Now that Ulead is part of Corel, along with InterVideo¡Xmakers of WinDVD and many other multimedia software products¡Xyou may be wondering what it means for you as an owner of a Ulead product.
To begin with, I want to assure you that Corel will support and enhance Ulead's products so you continue to enjoy the same quality and ease of use that you have come to expect as a dedicated Ulead customer.
And as a Corel customer, you will benefit from new product initiatives, special discounts, expanded training and new tutorial programs designed to help you get the most enjoyment out of the Ulead products you know and trust.
But more than that, you now have one-stop access to the industry's broadest portfolio of digital media creation, authoring, and burning solutions for use at home, the office or just for fun.
Corel's success is driven by helping you to succeed, whether that means helping you to be more productive or giving you the tools to fully realize your creative potential. It is my goal to ensure that Corel is there to support you every step of the way. We would like to better understand how you use your current Ulead product and the kinds of things you'd like to do in the future. That is why I am inviting you to participate in a very short survey.
To thank you for participating and completing the survey, you will receive special 20% Welcome Savings on the purchase of your first Corel product. I encourage you to complete the survey as soon as you can so that we can better understand what matters most to you.
I look forward to earning your loyalty and support as we strive to continually meet your needs. Once again, welcome to Corel!
Sincerely,
David Dobson
Chief Executive Officer

I hate to burst your bubble, in thinking that response was just to you. I and several of us received that very same "letter" just after the deal was done between Intervideo and Corel.

Did you just register or purchase something from Ulead, or Intervideo?

vidoman, you didn't burst my bubble and I did NOT think it was just to me. I realized it was a letter to all registered Ulead customers. My point of posting it was that it was the first acknowledgement I have seen to Ulead customers and the fact that the CEO says they will continue to improve the Ulead products.

Does that mean that there will be a new version of MSP? I don't know. And, no, I haven't purchased anything new from Ulead or Intervideo. My last purchase was the upgrade to MSP 8 when it came out a while ago.

Well ok, I spoke/typed too soon...

I just checked my email, and I too just received that "Welcome" letter, again.
I see it's a survey also. This is a bit different then the first one I received.

I would urge everyone that receives this email/letter to complete the survey, and be honest. If you have problems, let them know in a professional manner. They do pay attention to surveys. Now if this survey works, the last one would not submit. :o

Most is kind of marketing stuff, eg what type of activities are you interested in w/ tech products (video, images, sharing etc), why Corel/Ulead products...
then question 10 was :

Question 10

What would you like to see Corel do to demonstrate how important you are to us as a customer? Please check only three responses

Develop a customer loyalty or rewards program for frequent buyers
Offer extended hours for customer service
Offer special web and other services through third party partners for Corel customers only
Find ways to help you easily share your photo and video projects with friends and family
Provide you with detailed free tips and tutorials to learn how to better use your existing Ulead product or other Corel products
Offer you access to webinars that show you how to better use your existing Ulead product or other Corel products

I put, of course, Other:
Continue to upgrade and improve existing Ulead products, specifically MediaStudio Pro and DVD Workshop (better HDV native M2T support, Vista support, new features)- otherwise I may be forced to go to competitor products who do so, despite my investment and affinity for Ulead products now and in the past.

The links are per-person cookie-enabled URLs etc, eg tracking response to the email, not just a simple global URL, so I doubt they will work twice.

Sounds like a general corporate propaganda letter to me. I would not take it to actually mean anything regarding MSP8.
