Some jerky patches at the start of a project / edit mode VS9

Post by terry dennis »

I recently captured a video from my video recorder and found that there were some "jerky" sections in the first few minute or so of the resultant VS file. The video as viewed on my Panasonic NV-GS150 recorder was perfect. I have the VS9 update patch installed.

Any suggestions for a remedy ??

Sounds like you may have some dropped frames. Did you have the drop frame counter on to confirm this? If not, it can be enabled under File > Preferences.

Jerky bit of video !

Jeff
Thanks for that information.

No! I didn't have the facility on but I do now.

Presumably an error message appears during or after the capture of the video , does it?
So, do you have to abandon the captured video and start again ?

Regards

You might also want to consider Googling for a small freeware program called WinDV which does an excellent job capturing DV, usually with no dropped frames.

To avoid dropped frames, make sure you have as few program running in the background as possible. Disconnect from the internet, for instance, and switch off your anti-virus.

No, you will not get a message that you dropped frames. Only the drop frame counter will tell you.

Yes, you will have to capture again, hopefully with no dropped frames this time.
