Hi,
I have recorded the HDV using Sony HDR-HC7 and imported the .m2t files on my computer Hard Drive using Sony supplied Software.
Now when I try to open .m2t files (stored on Hard Drive) using ULEAD MF (Trial Version), I get an error message that .m2t files not accessible.
Please let me know how to get rid of this.

The Sony software and some other programs capture the native format on the tape which is in the TS (transport stream) format. MovieFactory works in the PS (Program Stream) format.
This program can quickly convert them to PS format without re-rendering.

Install the software, doesn't affect any other video/audio apps on the computer.
Load the file and answer Yes to index it. You may want to goto View -> Zoom 1:4 and resize the screen.
Settings to use to convert the TS to PS format:
Video = Copy
Audio = Copy
Format = MPEG PS A+V
Save the file and make sure to assign an extension of MPG and not .M2T (example: TS file = Scene01.m2t -> PS file = Scene01.mpg.
Use this file with the mpg extension to load & edit in MF6+
This program is also a nice capture program, low cpu usage, just use the lcd screen on the cam to preview. Also will auto-split the files using scene detection or you can load in an existing file and have the program auto-split the video by time & date stamps. The program is called HDVSplit.
HDVSplit
Hope this helps
