How to import jpg files to use as image backgrounds

Not only do I have the subject question but are there any free downloads to add as video backgrounds or any downloads for that matter that didn't come with the software. I'm new to using this and wondering if I need a converter of some sort to import AVI files for instance to use in cool3d production..any help is really appreciated.

From the title bar at the top select project>background>image

Be sure that the extension on your jpg is jpg and not jpeg. It doesn't appear it will recognize it but I could be wrong. If you have a .jpeg that you want to use simply change the extension to .jpg
