How to extract audio track from an mpg file?

Post by ppost »

I'm using VS9. I want to extract a portion of the audio track from an mpg file. I plan to use this audio extract to overlay the audio track in a video. Can this be done with VS9? If not, can someone suggest another program that can? Thanks

Just place the MPEG in the timeline. Then go to Share and Create Sound File. Select (and remember) where you want it to go and you will get a wav file of the track.
You can then use Audacity to edit the file. Audacity is free and can be found by a quick search on the internet. Altenately if you have any Nero suite on the computer like me you can use Nero Wave editor.

Hi
To add

Once you have made the Wav file, add it to a project, you can edit/cut the file in the same way as cutting a video.
You can trim the ends using the yellow trim bars.
Use the whole clip or portions anywhere you like.
