Capture thru firewire

Post by svaughn57 »

My question is more hardware related. Been using VS (currently VS10) on a desktop and have been capturing from a mini-DV digital camcorder. I have recently upgraded to a Vista laptop. On the desktop I would plug the larger end of the firewire into the firewire 1394 port on the computer and the other, smaller end into the camera. My laptop came with the smaller firewire port but not the larger one. How do I connect my camcorder to my laptop now that I have small ports at both ends?

Thanks in advance.

They also make 6pin to 4pin adapters which probably cost about the same as buying a new 4pin to 4pin cable.
