failed to connect to driver // WinTV initialization error

Post by leffe145 »

I have a Hauppauge PVR 150 multimedia card for connecting TV and (old) video camera to my computer.

1. When I run WinTV I always get the error : "WinTV initialization error : htv = 0". I looked it up on the net and apparently you need to change the start parameter in the registry for hcppvr2 to 0 instead of 3 in order to start the driver earlier on every start-up. This eleviated the problem only once (don't ask me why ...).

2. when running Ulead Movy factory 6, it will not connect to the card and gives me the error : "failed to connect to driver : hauppauge wintv pvr pci II capture".

I tyed : deleting and reinstalling all drivers and programs related, starting and restarting my PC, downloading all updates related, downloading other drivers (?) from other websites, ... you name it, but it doesn't help.

Anyone left with any ideas ?

appreciate it !

You are almost always better off using the capture software that's especially made for the capture hardware. In your case, that's the Hauppauge WinTV2000 software.

Once you have a digital audio/video file on your hard drive, you can use the video editing and DVD authoring software of your choice.

Some capture-hardware and capture-software just dont "play well together". Some versions of Movie Factory seem to work with the Hauppauge cards, and others don't. :?
