Inserted Image displays only background color

Post by bgm1961 »

Hi all,

I just dragged about 25 images from Windows Explorer into the storyboard folder of the Project Tray. All are 1200 x 900 pixels, RGB, 24 bit JPGs.

About 6 of them don't show an image- only the background color.

The image appears fine in Windows Explorer thumbnail view, and with all other image viewing software.

If I right click on the missing image in MSP and select properties, the program returns all normal information as if the image is there, but it's not. Again, all I see is the background color.

Any experience with this before? I couldn't find any mention of this problem in the forum.

Thanks in advance!

I suggest you should use the Insert Image function, rather than dragging them from Explorer. You can insert multiple images this way.

Alternatively, you may care to open them in your Project Tray/Media Bin/Image. This has the advantage that you can then put them, in the order you wish, on the Storyboard, which permits all sorts of automatic manipulations (transitions, Pan&Zoom etc.) and synchronise with music.

I've found lots of apps have trouble with jpeg images, so you may find using a different format, such as .tiff. Resaving a jpeg reduces it's quality, so it should be your practise to always work with lossless formats like tiff anyway.

Thanks all,

But what a differene a day makes. Rebooted my computer this evening and was pleased to see that the images are displayed in the timeline mode. Although their thumbnails in the project tray are still blank, I'm not going to worry about that.

Sorry for the false alarm.

Thanks again for the quick, friendly response!
