Audio artifact in downloaded video

Post by cdawley »

I have a problem when I download video from the minidv camera where occassionaly I get a short burst of a low pitched buzzing sound ( one second or less). This did not happen the first few times I used the program but does now, the same problem happens if I use another video editing program besides Video Studio 10. The occurance frequency is about 5-6 times per one hour video transfered. The computer is Gateway 2.8 ghz pentium 4, 160 gb 7200 rpm drive ( 110 gb free) and 120 gb firewire external (100 gb free), mother board has integrated video, 1.5 gig RAM.

The problem happens with two different Panasonic cameras and different tapes.

Possibly a fault with your camcorder?
Faulty cable between camcorder and computer?
Possibly a corrupt tape in your camcorder?

You also need to complete this --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

A sound like that is usually associated with a dropped frame during capture. Make sure you have turned off as many background processes as possible during capture. Also, you might want to Google for a small freeware program called WinDV which does one job but does it excellently: capture DV video. It usually does so without dropped frames. Make sure you also keep background processes to a minimum, and have set WinDV to capure Type 1 DV.
