Video Studio 11+ Installation Error

Post by Espresso_Addict »

Good morning all
Thanfully I have found this forum and you may be able to help me. I have recently uninstalled version 8 (had to manually remove as the uninstall would not work) and when installing version 11 my system suffered a fatal error before the installation was complete.
I have no shortcuts and the product does not show on the add/remove programs. However all the files are in place in program files and I can use the software, my problem arises when I want to update and use add-ons, I get a message advising the programme is not installed but when I try and re-install I get a message saying the program is already installed.
I figure I'm going to have to manually remove it but not sure if its the same process as I used on version 8. I have other Ulead programs on my system and i have uninstall issues with them as well.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

regards

Grant

For crashes and bugs, a clean reinstallation is suggested.

1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders";
2. Purge/delete all the files in these folders: "C:\Windows\Temp" "C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp" (for WinXP);
3. It is safe to delete all contents of these folders. However, leave any files you can?t delete for now;
4. Delete these folders/directories: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems" "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10.0" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc" (for full versions);
5. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information";
6. Delete the folder "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}";
7. Go to Start-->Run;
8. Type "regedit" then "OK";
9. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Uninstall;
10. Locate and delete the identity enclosed in curly brackets that corresponds to Ulead VideoStudio 10: "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}";
11. Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio";
12. Delete the folder "10.0";
13. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio";
14. Delete the folder "10.0";
15. Close Regedit and restart Windows;
16. Reinstall Ulead VideoStudio 10.

Note: You need to have "Administrator" privileges on your computer. "Limited" or "Guest" accounts won't let Ulead software install or run properly on your computer.
