Unable to switch to capture mode - 15023:4:2

Post by Dr. Archetype »

Hello -
I've tried to search on this subject here and elsewhere, but still haven't found a solution. Has there been any recent information that I may have missed?
I'm using Videostudio 11 Plus on Vista, with an ATI AIW X1900.

Thanks for the response. I've checked Device Manager and there are no yellow exclamation marks or red Xs. Everything that should be there appears to be there. Is there something else that I should be looking for?

I finally received a response about this from Support@corel.com:

"This issue has been reported to engineering. It will need to be resolved in a service pack release to correct the problem. Until then if you have another capture utility or program, then use it to capture your video. Once captured you can bring it into VS for editing.
Due to the new plug-in the current version is using there few incompatibility issues regarding certain capture devices. I have escalated this issue to my superior to take care of this issue as soon as possible."

VS does not work with ATI Catalyst Drivers

Post by rjgeisler »

I posted "VS10 does not work with ATI Catalyst Drivers" a while ago! I just upgraded to VS11+ and it has some of the same basic problems.

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... highlight=

I have an ATI All-In-Wonder X800XT and I downloaded and installed the latest drivers/software (Cat 7.8 and MMC 9.16). The first problem is that VS11 does not recognize a capture driver. "Unable to switch to capture mode".

ATI switched from the WDM drivers to their "ATI T200 Unified AVStream Drivers" somewhere back with Catalyst 6.x.

VS10 and VS11 both work with Catalyst 6.5 and MMC 9.13. VS11 now displays the preview window where VS10 would capture but would not display the preview window or it was a cropped and stretched out version but it did capture OK.

With VS11 they have eliminated all access to the capture device settings which was what allowed some of us to view the preview window by setting the preview pin designation.

When I first installed VS11 it would not work with the most recent ATI drivers so I went back to Catalyst 6.5 and MMC 9.13 which seem to co-exist together.

At first I did not have the preview window in VS11+ but after I clean installed both ATI and UVS11 it began to work.

Cat 6.5 still installs the T200 Unified drivers but also installs a subset of the WDM drivers "AIW/VIVO WDM Driver Version 6.14.10.6238".

Cat 7.x installs just the T200 Unified AVStream drivers and this does not work with UVS10 or 11!

It has been suggested we use another capture program like ATI MMC and then edit with UVS but this is where a lot of the audio/video sync problems occur. This is not the only problem, there are others!

The choice is; install the latest ATI drivers and MMC software and use it to capture and then import to UVS or install an older driver and MMC and capture direct to UVS11.

Bottom line, UVS software does not work without the WDM drivers?????

For what it's worth, I have the same problem. "Unable to switch to Capture Mode. Check if your video capture device is working properly. [15023:4:2]"

I'm using the Plextor ConvertX PX-TV402U with latest drivers (v2.0.2.2), and UVS 11 Plus. Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

I can capture into InterVideo WinDVR5 without any trouble, and there are no problems indicated in Device Manager so it seems the video capture device and drivers are working properly.

Everything worked fine in UVS 9, but the problems appeared when I upgraded to UVS 10. I figured it would be resolved by now, and therefore upgraded to UVS 11. No luck.

Thanks,
Glider
