How to randomly shuffle image files?

Post by metmot »

Hi,

Sorry if this question had been hashed I can't seem to find the answer specifically to my question. Actually this may be a more windows related question but applies to my VS Projects.

I would like to be able to randomly shuffle images in a folder before inserting them into VS as project images. If I can get them shuffled in the folder I can then rename the whole batch there and VS will insert them in the numerical order of the new file names after shuffling thus creating a random order. I have problems with similar photos appearing too near to each other in my slide shows and have tried many schemes to avoid having to move them around in the story board excessively later. On the surface it seems there ought to be a simple utility to do this inside of file manager apart from the ways you can now sort by date, size etc. For some reason this problem is harder for me than I expected when first considering a solution.

It is harder to randomly arrange photos than one may think and I would love to find a utility that can shuffle files inside of windows file manager similar to how media player will shuffle play lists.

Thanks for any ideas. A one click shuffle would be great.
