ok, I will try it again at the weekend.
What is better? No fields or lower field first? I mean the quality of the result.

I've tried it now again.
- Captured from DV Camcorder to AVI
- Project settings lower field
- let the program make a DVD
- copied the rendered MPEG Files in a new project
- connected 2 MPEG Files (with the same field order - lower field)
- made a new DVD with project settings lower field
result: the same as I write at the beginning of this topic
2nd try:
- Captured from DV Camcorder to AVI
- Project settings NO FIELDS
- let the program make a DVD
- copied the rendered MPEG Files in a new project
- connected 2 MPEG Files (with the same field order - lower field)
- made a new DVD with project settings NO FIELDS
result: the same as I write at the beginning of this topic, but more bad than the method above
Can you try it yourself?
The thing with the field order is strange: the mpeg files of the 2 methods above were both shown as "lower field" in Ulead Video Studio, but the 2nd I made with project settings NO FIELDS

Rager01,
I take it that this is happening on your system using MF6+ with patch# 2, correct? To troubleshoot we need to stay with one version of MF only.
Can you answer this? Does the original dvd that you burn that creates the 2 separate mpeg2 video files play correctly? i mean in a dvd player on the TV, not the computer because computer software has to de-interlace playback and dvd playback software on the computer varies dependant on various computer settings. So this needs to be tested in the correct environment, playing back on a TV from a dvd player.
On the timeline we know you are JOINING 2 mpeg video files together correct? Then proceeding on to burn a dvd and your project settings all the time are equal to your source videos?
This was an older bug in previous versions of MF that was reported to ulead & was corrected in patches & next releases. This is one feature that I do check in MF new releases to make sure it's working (joining video files) because this was a past issue.
I just can't figure out how it's surfacing on your computer, that's why we need to know your exact settings.
If the original dvd recording session that creates 2 separate mpeg2 video files on the dvd ( 2 videos) plays correctly then yes, or course something is happening on your system when joining mpeg2 video files.
But we need to stay with one version, so it's best to use MF6+ with Patch# 2 installed OK.

---> yes, I use MF6+ with patch2, German version

---> yes, the separate mpeg files every time play correctly on TV, I can import them to a new project and it works.

---> like I wrote above: in the German Filmbrennerei 4 (maybe MF4) the connection of two MPEG's sometimes didn't work in a whole project, but when I only put the 2 files which I want to connect to a project (no other files), and DEactivate the marker at "no rendering of compatible MPEG" in the project settings then the program made a correctly connected file which I later can use in a new project. But this doesn't work with MF6

Can you please do one more thing.
The dvd that you created by joining the 2 mpeg files that doesn't play correctly contains the corrupted mpeg2 video file on it.
Can you put that disk into your dvd drive and in MF6 use the import dvd feature, import the one complete mpeg2 video file. Then when the video is on the timeline right-click on it and select "Media Properties", read the displayed properties in the pop-up display.
What does the fielding report for this mpeg2 video file that doesn't play correctly? You and I know it should be lower field first because you originally captured from your dv camcorder, then rendered to lower field first. But what does MovieFactory 6+ say the fielding is.

I've tried it: it shows always lower field first.
When I look to this imported file, it looks like there are missings some frames. This effect stronger comes in the 2nd part of the connected file (which was originally the second MPEG). The field order seems to be correctly, maybe the program cuts some frames.

I don't have an answer but can only suggest some alternatives.
Originally combine the 2 dv.avi files when creating the original dvd.
Or,
Start a new project, load the 2 mpeg2 video files, match your project settings so they match the source video.
Then JOIN the 2 mpeg 2 files, click on the "I" Icon & look at the encoding settings for the Joined video. It should match the project settings.
Then click on the Export Icon & select "Fast Export DVD Compliant Video", save the file, start a new project & use that video file.
The above is my usual workflow for MF6+. I export any edited/joined video prior to the menu/burning stage. This way I'm always working with DVD Compliant video & also have a copy of the original video. The encoding process also goes much faster.
Just one point, have you edited any of the configuration files? Sometimes a tip was to put "Advance=1" in the config file. This can break VBR (variable bit rate) encoding in MF and cause problems.
If using Advance=1 the CBR (Constant Bit Rate) does work.

I tried your 2 alternatives:
- I connected 2 AVI Files, then I used "Fast Export DVD compliant video" to get an MPEG. Same result, like there were lost some frames.
- I connected 2 MPEG Files and also used "Fast Export DVD compliant video" (the field order is everytime the same - lower field first). Same result.
It doesn't work.
I didn't edit configuration files. I don't know what you mean -> an .ini File or something?
My settings in MF6+ are: pal/secam and in the project settings: lower field first, activation of "don't render compliant MPEG files", the other 5 checkboxes are deactivated; MPEG settings: lower field first, 720x576, 4:3, quality 100, bitrate variable 7000 kbps, dolby digital 2.0, no checkbox is activated
