Video or Animated Backgrounds

Post by sportswizdan »

Hi...Can you use animated Gifs or animated video backgrounds in VS8? If so, where can you get them? Example...In editing one of my daughters basketball games she broke her ankle in...After the spot in the video where she did this...I wanted to "cut in" a scence of a cartoon animated ambulance going to the hospital...Is that possible? Also, anywhere you can get a more fancier titling package? Thanks in advance, Dan

You most certainly can use animated GIFs etc in UVS8 - and any video which complies with the standard .avi or mpeg formats can also be used, as to where you get them - a search on the internet I guess - I would start with http://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi&q= and put in something like 'Cartoon videos' or any other similar reference.

Depends on what you mean by a more fancy title maker - you can make some pretty fancy titles in UVS with animated text - moving backgrounds - multiple texts in various fonts and colours - scrolling credits . If thats not what you want many people use Ulead Cool3D to produce animated 3D titles involving animated objects and text and then import them into UVS. Or you can produce gifs , jpegs etc in any image manipulation package and import them into the UVS timeline.

If you would like to be more definitive about "Fancy Titles" maybe someone can provide more positive help.

Regarding titling

I'm coming from Pinnacle Studio 7,8,9 because of persistant oos problems. In Those products, I add a title to the title track and then drag any of the video transitions in front of the title and/or behind it to allow the title to transition on and then off the screen. The titler also has options for scrolling on to the screen, but obviously they are limited compared to being able to use any video transition you want. In Video Studio 8, when I drag a transition and try and drop it in front of the title I get a "not allowed" symbol. Is there a way to use the video transitions with titles or am I limited to whatever effects are located within the titler?

You cannot use transitions in the overlay or title track but if you put your backgrounds etc. in the top track you can use transitions - but if you want to put one at the very beginning of your video before the title then the transition must have something to *transit* from - try putting a short black colour block of 5 seconds or so before the title.

One alternative is to create and render your titles as individual video clips which you can then insert into the top track of your final project - you can then use transitions between them.

While you may not be able to use the fancier VS8 transitions in the title track, I trust you realise that, with VS 7 or 8, you can in fact have the title fade in and out for whatever duration you like, and have it scroll up or down or from right or left, stay on screen or scroll off screen.
