Library files in Vista

Post by davestephen »

I have just installed my copy of VS10 on Vista along with the Vista patch. All seems fine except that when I copied the library files from the XP system (C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead Videostudio\10.0\...), VS10 cannot read them. It displays a pop-up for each clip saying "Load From Stream Error" and the resulting thumbnails are blank. If I restore the original installation library files, VS10 is happy again.
I've had no problems in the past moving libraries from VS8 to VS9 to VS10 but maybe I'm doing something wrong - has anyone else had this problem?

The "Load from Stream Error" can be solved by doing the clean reinstall.

To do the clean reinstall, do the following.

1. Uninstall VideoStudio via the Add/Remove Program utility in the Control Panel
2. Empty the content of the TEMP folder under C Windows\Temp then restart the computer
3. Go to Start > Run then type regedit and click OK to open the Registry Editor.
4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Uninstall
5. Check if {757AD3D4-036B-42FA-B0A4-96BD6F4605A0} still exsist on the list
6. If yes, delete it.
(I Also checked in the C Program
files\InstallSheild Installation Information folder, and folder had been deleted from there as well.)
7. Close the Registry Editor
8. Reinstall VideoStudio. Please make sure that no other applications are running when you reinstall. Disable your anti-virus and other utilities as well.

Not sure how this helps Rob as it's the thumbnails (i.e. the library) that I'm trying to preserve.

My library is now working under Vista - all video thumbnails, audio clips and images are there :D.

I did the clean re-install under Vista as Rob suggested and applied the Vista patch, but this time I copied over the library files from my XP system BEFORE opening VS10 for the first time under Vista.
