Converting music on cd to wav file

I have an actual cd that I downloaded to my pc. When I was making a slideshow I went to use one song and I double-clicked it it read file form mismatch. How do I make this compatible? Please help, I just bough a brand new cd for my summer vacation and it won't work!

Win MediaPlayer allows to rip a music CD to mp3 or wav format.

When I insert cd to rip it doesn't give me a destination option (ie.. mp3 or wav etc.) How do I change that?

Which version of MediaPlayer do you use?

In MediaPlayer 11 you do it this way

Unfortunately I have version 10 and wav is not an option. Any other solutions??? Please help.
