videostudio locking up

Post by carlyjobananer »

Hi! I divided my video into two clips and have been trying to save my trimmed video. The first clip rendered perfectly, but everytime I try to render the second clip the program stops responding. both the clips are mpeg. I'm using VideoStudio 8. Please help! Thanks!

It sounds like a corrupted MPEG file. (Video Studio has actually created corrupted files when I edited good MPEGs.) In my case, the apparently-corrupted files played OK with Windows Media Player... So, you can't always tell if there's a problem with the file.

If you can, try re-capturing it. Don't capture ti MPEG, if you have a choice.

I don't know if they can fix your files, but here are a couple of programs that have "Fix-MPEG" functions:

PVAStrumento
Womble MPEG Video Wizard
or Womble MPEG-VCR.

Carley,
Before you recapture, try rendering your second clip with Smart Render turned off. This has worked for me sometimes. You have to place your second clip alone in the timeline, then select SHARE, Create Video File/Custom and uncheck Perform Smart Render.
