UFO Question (not the sci-fi kind)

Post by tsha222 »

Suddenly today whenever I attempt to open a UFO file, either in PhotoImpact 12 or in VS11, the programs will stop responding and I have to close them. I can't seem to do anything to remedy this. I have rebooted. Any ideas what I might be experiencing? Thanks

what NVIDIA card are you using? Try and be more complete in your system info, it really does help.

Well I'm not at home right now so I'll double check all my specs and put them in my signature. the puzzling thing is that I had no problems two days ago with ufo files. Oh well, like I said, I update my signature so you guys can get me going again. thanks for the tip!!!!

Is it only one specific UFO file causing this problem, have you attempted to open a different UFO file?

Yes I have tried three dif ufo files. They lock up both PhotoImpact 12 and VideoStudio 11+. Not sure what is going on.

If this only occurred within the last few days then something has changed on your computer. Spend a few moments to think what that might be.

New software / hardware added or deleted.
Have you had a computer crash or a mains electricity failure.
Installed any service packs - especially Vista (have you got Automatic Updates turned on?)

You need to reverse whatever has changed on your computer in the past few days. Consider "System Restore" to a date before you had this problem.
If this doesn't work then your options are:

1. Clean re-installation of one or both affected programs.
2. Work your way through troubleshooting your computer

I have Vista and automatic updates are turned on. That is the only thing I can think of. I will do a restore tomorrow to a couple days prior and see what happens. Thanks for the advice!
