Sound in Clip but not in Project view (again)

Post by lexel »

There are a number of problems in this web board similar to mine: when I preview in Clip mode the sound is OK, when I preview in Project mode the sound stops after two minutes (regardless what clip is displayed). All given solutions do not apply in my case.

I use an "Easylite PCI TV and FM Card" to capture old VHS videotapes via the S-VHS entry. I used the provided software TVR 3.21 and saved the captured files as MPEG and as AVI. Afterwards I also used VS8 software to capture files and save them as AVI: AVI File - OpenDML, Audio compression PCM, 32kHz, 16 bit, stereo. In all cases the problem is the same: previewing in Clip mode the sound of every clip is OK (poor but OK), previewing in Project mode results in two minutes of sound and silence thereafter. A video file created in Share has the same problem.

I 'm not a technical person, but I made dozens of DV-tapes and DVD's (and one SVCD) using VS versions 6 and 8 (much more stable than version 6). The source - in most cases - was a Canon MV200 digital Video Camcorder.

It puzzles me most that there is sound for a few minutes, but then is seems to be turned off.

I do remember this problem in the past, probably with, as you say, v8. However, I don't recall if there ever was a definitive solution. I don't remember this problem coming up in versions since, so maybe that is the solution.

What happens if you split the audio?

Same thing: large file, only first minutes sound then silence, some files no sound at all.

If you've had no previous problems with footage from your DV camcorder, and now you are having problems with footage from your PCI TV card, I would be leaning to that as the problem.

Does your DV cam support pass-thru? If not, since you are trying to capture VHS, why not connect your VHS player to your camcorder and record to tape, then transfer to your PC. Since the source is VHS I don't think you'll see much quality loss.

I got the same problem.

Import and edit 3 or 4 .avi files and all seems well, then when I go to file project playback after about 2 minutes NO sound.

Sometimes it will come back for a few minutes then disappear.

Help Please as I am clueless.

BTW I am using the vs11plus trial version with only 3 days left.

Problem solved using V11 (trial version)

Sorry for this very late reaction.

The problem, losing audio when capturing from VHS, was solved, as suggested, using version 11. :D

To be honest: since I captured all VHS tapes I wanted to, I did not upgrade to VideoStudeo 11.
I do not need seven layers of overlay nor Chinese characters.
I would have liked better quality Titles, apart from that I am quit satisfied using version 8.
