"unspecified error" when trying to burn dvd
I just got the Video Studio v11 and when I went to burn the dvd it gave me this response:
Unspecified Error
5:0:0
It won't let me burn the dvd - does anyone know what I need to do in order to burn?
Thanks,

Well, you haven't give us much to go on, including the workflow you followed to get to the point of burning.
But have you by any chance any packet-writing software on your computer, such as the Nero InCD module or a similar one in the Roxio suite? (In case you are not aware, packet writing software is used to drag and drop files to an icon of your burner drive. The files usually accumulate until there are enought to fill a disc and make it worthwhile burning. But in the meantime, the software reserves the burner and won't allow other programs, like Video Studio access to it.)
If you have such software on your computer, in the case of InCD it has to be totally uninstalled (not the whole Nero suite; InCD appears as a separate program in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs). If it is the Roxio suite one, then it can be internally disabled while you use Video Studio. For other similar software, you will need to consult its instructions.

I have read through most of the other posts on this issue.
I am seeing a trend -that the problem seems to be with the trial version. Has anyone seen this problem once they purchased the full version.
I want to make sure the problem will go away if I decide to purchase the full version. We have version 8 and I never had this much trouble in creating a DVD.

Try checking your source files for corruption. Even though they may play correctly when you try to render them a small error in the file can make the render process 'throw a wobbly.'
What were those source files?
MPEG's, "avi" (What kind - DivX MPEG4 or Xvid an be quite troublesome)
Where did they originate from - TV card, camcorder, internet?
Try creating a different project with different source files - does the problem still occur or go away? (another indication of a problematic source file.)
Try burning to a DVD folder rather than a disc.
If this works it could be a problem with the burner - perhaps requiring updated firmware. Please see DVD Burning / Playback issues
Are you following the Suggested workflow and creating a DVD compliant MPEG2 file before going to the share disc phase?

After having to create a project, when I try to create a disc finely (: divide, to create a disc) an error message posts (unknown error, 5:0: 0).
This question was put about the forum videostudio in English, but the answer does not seem to relate to me because I use neither Nero nor Roxio.
I have nevertheless all to decontaminate, quick time, anydvd, network, antivirus etc ........ the problem is the same one, I cannot as well finalize my projects on my 2 compiuter.
This error does not occur with Videostudio 9. Recording of the project to the V9 format then creation with VideoSutio 9).
It is the same thing with the trial version and the complete version.

Sick and tired of VideoStudio 11 +++++++++
I am having problems after problems...
Finally I got the video studio to recorgnize my video files from my HDR-SR1 camera..(It was a very very big hassel)
Now.. I just finished making a huge project and am trying to burn it and it keeps on giving me the Unspecified Error [5:0:0] error message. I have been trying to solve this problem (patiently) but now I am really starting to dislike this program.
I tried almost every method, trying to burn to a disc and also only to the HD but doesn't work...
If there is a solution please let me know... Your help will be really appreciated

Ken you are not helping
Ken Berry, please boot me off the forum if you wish, but why post that reply?
It is of no use and not related to this.
The error "Unspecified Error" is a perfectly adequate question on its own - if you use VideoStudio you WILL have seen this error at some stage. No extra information is necessary to describe it, as we have all seen it.
I agree with one of the other replies that it is probably due to the content in one of the video files, whether a corruption, or unrecognised encoding in the audio or video.
If you don't know the answer, don't reply at all, it's like giving bad directions.
The error occurs in the full product, not just the trial. Lucky for Corel that there is no other video suite that offers anywhere near the functionality of VideoStudio - these bugs are annoying, and in my experience it's best to get your project right first time, because the more times you click that 'back' button, the bigger the risk of a crash.
For a quick fix, use something like Nero to convert/rebuild the video file and try again.
Also, select the option to create an image file (.iso file) - it's a good way to see if it's going to work - if it does then burn the .iso file to a DVD, if it doesn't you can be guaranteed not to waste any DVD's.

I am sorry you have taken such high dudgeon from my post... It was meant as a genuine suggestion. In point of fact, in the five years or more of using Video Studio, I have NEVER received that error message on VS7, 8, 9, 10+ or 11+. So we have not "all" seen it at first hand as you suggest.
Where I *have* seen it, though, is from some users who have received it in the situation I have described. Those programs I mentioned (Nero InCD etc) deny access for programs like VS to the DVD burner and will sometimes give that exact error message. And doing what I suggested has helped those users.
So please try to show a little civility to a genuine offer of help -- especially when you did not post very much information in the first place on which advice could be based...
