Production Library HELP!

Post by firehousemedia »

I feel sick in the stomach after what has just occured. Over the past there days I have been importing video, taking the clips I want and drag them into the production library. I have been saving the project under the same name. I took a break for about an hour and shut down the computer (after daving again) and returned to find that only 3 of the clips are now in the production library!

Where have the rest of them gone???? I have send 45 hours on getting them into the production library now there gone! Please tell me there is a simple way to bring them back!

Please help!

The ladder menu that was once in the Production Library had disappeared also and couldn't find a way to get it back.

Solution to the problem in case anyone else has this issue!

Place the mouse on the left hand side of the PL window, left click and drag it to your right. You will find it hiding away there.

Big sigh of relief!

I very rarely use the production library. The reason is, you can drag and drop clips from windows anyways.

The only time I use the library is when doing still images.

I prep a music clip with the audio editor, adding cues, then add the music clip to the video editor, then, add the video cues over the music cues. Here, I add the stills to the library, then add them to the storyboard and use the pop up to put them into the time line.

The result is a very synchronized music/still montage.

Have you been using save-as to rename the DVP files as you've been going along? (I often will create a DVP file - say file01.dvp - and then after every hour or so of work, save a new file, file02.dvp, and work in that).

I've found that if I drag files into the production library in file01.dvp and then re-save the project to file02.dvp, my production library disappears. But, it's still in file01.dvp - it just doesn't translate over. I generally load things directly off of my disk and don't use the production library much, so I've never really pursued it...

I haven't really looked into it, but perhaps the production library is in the file01.veproj file that is created along with the project .DVP file? Maybe you should make a copy of all of your files and play around with one of the copies - you might be able to find a way to copy the .veproj file that _might_ contain with the projection library into one of your new files...

Just a shot in the dark... If this is the case and you try this, make sure you're working on a copy of the files - you don't want to get in any deeper than you already are.
