Moving a clip around the screen.

Post by BuZZarD »

I wish to have 3 clips on screen, similar to picture in picture.
I want to move them around the screen, ie. enter at one point like the top left and then move to the bottom right.
I have adjusted the size to around 1/16th of the screen but cannot seem to move it.

Is there a way to do it in vs11?
Or do I need to it in something like Boris RED?

You are probably thinking about moving paths.
These do not exist in VideoStudio - for that you need MediaStudio.
Having said that you might be interested in this method:

In VS11 you can also do it on the overlay track. Add a clip on the overlay track press a few buttons and presto!

I think it would be a bit more help if you provided something more descriptive, then push a few buttons and presto.

For example, Press which buttons, effects, filters..ect..

If you are referring to the Motion/Style Buttons, then this is nothing new to VS11.

We just created a small video tutorial that might help you. We have called it Moving blocks or Sliding blocks.

Hopefully, this is what you are looking for. Hope you find this helpful.

Another excellent tutorial Neel,

Now I have a problem

I followed your tutorial to the letter. However when the "4 pieces" join in the center, I only have 1 piece visible. The others are covered by the Fill Color. I copy the First Keyframe to the last, so the crop size does not change. It seems like 3 of the clips, slide behind the 4th, thus being covered by the black Fill color. See the following screenshots..

I've played with this about all day, and came to the conclusion that you forgot to mention one very important step in your tutorial, or my program is not behaving correctly.

I did manage to accomplish this, however I had to select the Chroma-key, set the color to about 50 % Black. That seemed to knock out the remaining parts of each video clip.

Hi Vidoman,

You are absolutely correct. The tutorial misses out on one step.

The last step is apply Chroma Keying on each of the 4 overlay tracks.

1. Select overlay track 1. From Attribute, select mask and chroma key.
2. Check Apply Overlay Options
3. Select the black color.
5. Make Color Similarity = 0

Repeat the above steps on Tracks 2,3 & 4.

That should complete the effect. Now you will not see the clips being cut off.
Thanks for pointing this out.

Is this a new one that can be added to the list
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 083#127083

If your still creating new ones, please let me know as they become available so that I can update that index.
I have also created another one for your PhotoImpact Videos
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 084#127084

If you would like to maintain the index's yourself
1. Click the
button this will in effect copy my post.
2. Paste it into notepad or similar for ease of manipulation.
3. strip away the BBcode for the
function
4. Create a NEW post in the tutorials - You have now been given the power to post new items.

This will then enable you to use the EDIT button as and when you need to alter the list.

Hi Steve ,

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I have created a tutorial index on http://www.takeoneflix.com/tutorial-index

We will be adding tutorials now and then - of course not at the same pace though. I will maintain the index on my side as well.

Thanks for the effort. This is an excellent forum and very well maintained. Kudos to Steve, Vidoman and all the admins!

Regards,

Neel
