WinDVD8 BD for VAIO Blu-ray content protection issue

Post by jimmi1 »

Hi there,

I have just purchased a VAIO AR31S with Blu-ray drive and HDMI output. I want to watch Blu-ray movies on my large HD ready TV, but everytime I start the movie it comes up with:

'your display environment does not support content protected playback'

It plays fine on the laptop monitor but displays this error when I try to switch over! I downloaded the latest WinDVD8 update and does the same thing.

Sony VAIO --> Sony Picture (Casino Royale - legit copy) --> Sony HD Ready TV

What is going on?

PLease help!

I have the same computer and I had the same problem : in fact it's a DRM issue, if you intend to play simultaneously the blu ray disk on the screen laptop and on your TV it's interpreted as a violation of the security : Win DVD thniks that you intend to make a copy of the disk !

Just configure the display on the TV only and it will work (change the resolution to 1920x1080). You will need also to inhibit the sound on the PC (control panel) and use as sound default the HDMI output itherwise you'll have the sould on the PC (insufficient !)

By the way I have a problem with WinDVD : after 4 weeks it doesn't work at all and I can't read any BD disak anymore. if you have an idea it would be fine....
