Videostudio 11 plus.. error message on start-up

Post by wayne16 »

Hi all, new to the board :D

I am attempting to try out the trial version of videostudio 11 plus.

I've managed to download and install it - no problems.
My problems arise when I try to run the program.

What happens is I get the first screen, (try/activate/purchase) and sellect try.
I then get the second screen and select 'Videostudio editor'
Then the Videostudio screen comes up and it looks like its loading but, after about 20 seconds, I get a windows error message saying videostudio has encountered a problem and will have to close - with the option of sending error report to microsoft.

Its really frustrating because I wanted to try this program as I've always used pinnacle or adobe in the past, but this edition of ulead looks like it could be good.
If I can't get the trial to run then I'm not going to buy the boxed version 'cause it's likely to have the same problem.

Help please.

System:

Windows XP Home SP2 + Updates
Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ with Hyperthreading
512 MB Ram
200GB HD
Radeon 9800 XXL Video card

Other Software:

Pinnacle Studio 10 plus
Nero 6 Enterprise
Sony picture motion browser
Various Imtoo video converters
No other Ulead products

Thanks,
Wayne

Perhaps you had a faulty download.

I thought about that and un-installed, deleted download file and re-downloaded and re-installed.

Unfortunately exactly the same problem occured. :(

Its still counting down my trial days though - I've got 27 days left. :x

Cheers,

Do you have the most recent (July 2007) update to DirectX9? You might want to download and install it.

Yes, I downloaded all the updates that ulead recommended before downloading the trial version - this included direct x9.

Well -

I've un-installed any programs that I didn't need on my computer anymore, in case of conflict.

I've set up a seperate hardware profile for video editing.

Re-installed Ulead VS11 plus and......

Same error message as before.

I think its time to give up and buy Pinnacle Studio 11 Ultimate.

Thanks anyway

I've done it.

VS11 Plus trial version is up and running

Unfortunately it took me two nights.....

I...
Copied my personal files
Reloaded windows xp
Re-connected to the internet
Downloaded SP2 + updates
Downloaded Quicktime, Mediaplayer, Direct X 9 etc.
Downloaded VS11 Trial
Installed VS 11 before installing any other programs and ..Bingo, it works.

Happy Days,

Wayne
