Can not get V11+ Trial to work with Vista... Any thoughts?

Post by boweryboy »

I am trying to evaluate VideoStudio 11+ to use with my new Sony HDR-CX7 camera and I can not get it to run. Everytime I try to run the program it gives me the error:

Limit users can not try this product
You can use normally after you register the product

I have a Dell XPS 410 running Vista home. I have full admin privlidges.

I tried call Ulead support and they were completely useless once they found out it was a trial version.

Any thoughts would be great!

I realise you said you have full admin privileges, this error is generated when an XP/Vista user who was not the administrator that installed it attempt to run the program.

Thanls for the reply...

I am the only account set up. the Vista Operating system came installed on the Dell Machine. Any suggestions?

Should I try to sign in as Admin? or Administrator? I do not know the password but I could try with a null.

thanks,

Bill

I think you might be struggling without the necessary Admin password.
\You can try "Run AS" and see if there is an admin account without a password. Failing that you might have to do the clean re-installation procedure:

1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders";
2. Please purge/delete all the files in these folders: "C:\Windows\Temp" "C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp" (for WinXP);
3. Go to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems";
4. Delete the folder for "PhotoImpact 12";
5. Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact";
6. Delete the "12.0" folder;
7. Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact";
8. Delete the "12.0" folder;
9. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information";
10. Delete the folder "{C8550C86-A712-4219-AD4C-038C9FD1D149}" (skip if you can't find);
11. Go to Start-->Run;
12. Type "regedit";
13. Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact";
14. Delete the folder "12.0";
15. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact";
16. Delete the folder "12.0";
17. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Uninstall;
18. Locate the identity enclosed in curly brackets that corresponds to Ulead PhotoImpact 12 {C8550C86-A712-4219-AD4C-038C9FD1D149} (skip if you can't find);
19. Delete the said entry;
20. Close "Regedit";
21. Restart Windows;
22. Before you reinstall PhotoImpact, please disable any antivirus or real time scanning software (Firewall, spam detectors or anti spy wares especially Norton. Sometimes they mistake PhotoImpact program files for something harmful and blocks some important files, which is of course not true.);
23. Reinstall PhotoImpact. Be sure to logon as Administrator before installing your software to avoid restrictions.

Note: Before installing, please temporarily close other running programs or applications including antivirus, norton utilities, screensaver, other memory resident programs including Internet connection, etc. to avoid unnecessary conflict and restrictions within your system.
