Upgrade Question: What do you get in the mail?

Post by rwalker66 »

I have DVD MF 4. If I do the upgrade and have DVD MF 6 Plus sent to me in the mail do I just get an upgrade CD by itself or does it come in a box with an instruction book? I wasn't sure if ULEAD had a special box just for upgrades or they just send you a CD with no box or instruction manual. I don't really need the Plus version because I don't have any HD equipment, but since I will save $30 off the retail price by doing the upgrade I was thinking of getting it. Thank you.

I haven't upgraded to MF6, but since nobody's answered you yet...

Last time I upgraded (Video Studio 10), I got a tiny manual. I don't have it with me to measure, but was maybe 4" x 6". I assume it's the same one you get with the retail version, and the text is identical to the PDF version. And, it didn't come in a box. It came in a brown envelope. The previous manuals (MF3 and VS8) were "normal" user-manual size... something like 6" x 8".

Thanks for replying. I might just get the full retail version of MF6 then since you get the box and hopefully a normal size user manual. MF4 came with a nice size manual going into details about how to do everything. I don't need the extra HD stuff you get with the MF6 Plus version, the only reason I was gonna choose it over the regular MF6 version was to say I saved $30. But if that means sacrificing a box and a normal user manual then it's not worth it, especially if I don't need the extra features.

DVDMF6 - what's in the box

When I bought the upgrade version of MF6+ a couple weeks ago, I got a full retail box with an "UPGRADE" sticker on the corner. Inside was the small (in size) manual with full details on Movie Factory, Burn. Now and some other modules.

I also got 2 CDs, one for MF6 and one "bonus" disk with the InterVideo DVD programs. I also got the usualy licensing information and advertising flyer.

Before I installed MF6+ I used Add/Remove Programs to get rid of versions 3, 4 and 5 of Movie Factory that were on my hard drive. When I installed the MF6 upgrade it apparently did NOT require a previous version to be on the hard drive but it DID ask for the product license number of my prior version.

The product installed without problems and seems to be functioning fine.

Thanks. I have gone ahead and ordered the upgrade version of DVD MF6+ based on your experience. I was wondering if I should uninstall the old version before installing this one so thanks for bringing that up too. I had problems before when I didn't uninstall an old version of DVD MF. The drivers would clash or something and crash the program. It's usually best to start with a clean install. I'm glad that can be done with no problems using the upgrade. Thanks for your post.

I have received the software in the mail just 2 days after placing the order and using regular shipping. Talk about quick service! Just for anyone else who is thinking of upgrading from a previous version of DVD MF to DVD MF6+ here is what you get in the mail:

Full sized retail box with an upgrade sticker in the corner

Very nice 60-page user manual

2 CD's. One with DVD MF6+ on it and a bonus disc with WinDVD 8 and DVD Copy 5 on it.

Ulead product brochure.

Another reason to upgrade, and something the website doesn't mention in the comparison: DVD MF 6 just comes with 88 menu templates. DVD MF6+ comes with 103 menu templates. I need as many menus as possible so I don't repeat them. So this is another good reason to upgrade. I hope this thread helps people in the future thinking of upgrading!
