Question creating DVD image slideshow

Post by diypluto »

I just purchased the Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus recently, and tried to creat a DVD image slideshow. However, the pictures turn out to be blurry when I run the preview of my project. I tried to burn the DVD out to see if there is any different, it also appeared to be blurry on the TV. Does anyone have any suggestion of how to solve that problem? The pictures are absolutey clear before I run the preview.

File > Preferences > General tab, fourth box from the bottom.

There is also an option in the burning module. If you click on Settings and Options (icon in bottom left corner) then Preferences you will find another Anti-Flicker box. I'm not sure why there are 2. :? I always check both.

Hi,
I checked the anti-flicker filter, it was always on by default. I tried to follow the suggestion and go to Share > Create Video File > DVD, this time the slideshow looks nice and smooth when I preview it. However, after I burn it out to DVD and play it in the DVD player, the image came out blurry again. Any other solution for that problem?

Thank you for your time.

What Field Order did you use? For slideshows, I normally use Frame Based, and they come out fine...

where is the frame-based setting? i am having this same problem right now.

i noticed that although I had 2.4G's of images on my harddrive, there was only 740k burned.

edit>> nevermind, spoke before i looked myself. found it. but, in the frame size section it has 720x480 as the maximum. is there a way to expand it? most of my pics are much larger on the data file.

Spar,

Unless you're going to burn an HD video (1080i) or larger, then you can not increase the resolution of your TV. All images, will be resized by VS, to the PAL or NTSC frame size.

The 720 x 480 is the DVD spec for NTSC Television, and the last time I checked Dallas, TX is still in the US. (I know Texas is it's own country.. :) )

IF you intend on viewing on your PC only, then you could use a Frame size larger, but it will not burn to DVD.

When you go to Share > Create Video File after you have finished editing your slideshow, choose Custom down at the bottom. Then in the dialogue box which appears , make sure you select the format as MPEG. Then press the Options button and a further dialogue box with three tabs will appear. This is where you can make changes to the default formats. On the central tab (General), change the field order to Frame Based.

The default setting of the field order is already set as Frame Based. Any other suggestion to solve the problem.

When you say blurry you mean un-focused right? and not flickering as the solutions above seem to be trying to solve.

In preview mode... the resolution is reduced so to not take up too much PC resources trying to preview output quality.

After you have burned you mention the images seem blurry.

What is the resolution of images you are using?

I ask because if you are using j-pegs from the web then you will lose resolution if the images have to be expanded to fit the TV.

Try adding the the images to the overlay track instead and doing a test burn and see if the image blurryness improves.

Might be worth telling us your project settings and how your settings when going to burn.

Found an answer to my own question. The anti-flicker option in the burn module is for the DVD menu.

Image slideshow DVD

Post by diypluto »

My pictures are in JPEG format and with resolution of 200 pixels/inch.

Here is my project settings

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Frame-based
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

I didn't change anything on under the Preferences.

Like I said before, for some reason the image turn out to be blurry after I burn the DVD. Hope you could help to solve this problem.

Thank you very much.

How big are your pictures. 200 px/in is only the resolution, they may only be one inch high 200px x 200px now thats small.

I tTry to keep my images to 4 x 3 ratio

eg...1200px x 1600px
