Indulge a drowning man

Post by ritasfrank »

Hello everyone,
I am a complete novice( That's English, for not too bright!)and can hardly tell my Avi, from my crossfade,I am struggling with abbreviations acronyms etc.,but my problem is -I am using VS10+- apparently when I save, I am not in fact Saving, just putting my work on hold,It seems that the work is only realy 'Saved' if I make a video file, saved in this context meaning I can leave it on my hard drive, transfer it to an external hard drive, or make a DVD, have I got this right? Any kind words would be gratefully received

Many thanks FRANK

You are correct. You are "saving" the project "instructions".

Go the the Share tab to create a video file.

This is the nature of "non-linear editing". When you apply your edits, the original file is not edited, but a new-edited file is created.

If, for instance, you are wanting to produce a DVD, then after you do your editing, you select Share > Create Video File > DVD and this will convert your project to a DVD-compatible mpeg-2.

When you select Share > Create Video File, you will see a drop down menu which will give you an idea of the various formats you can 'save' (i.e. convert/share) to. And when you get more confident, you will take advantage of the Custom choice down at the bottom, and make your own templates...
