MF5: Merging three clips - last one is not in the export fil

Post by anse07 »

Hello,
If merging clips to one file and then export, there is always missing a file ( the last one ) which was from another imported DVD movie but with the same video and audio attributes.
On the storyboard all files are there and all files were selected for merging.
The video files come from a Sony DVD cam.
What I already did for testing:
1. I did merge the last two clips only. Result: the last clip is missing again; the export file only contained the one ( first in that example ) clip ....
2. I put the last clip as the first clip in the storyboard then merge the clips again. The export file is complete by now ! But certainly in the wrong sequence.
So the third clip is not damaged or faulty in any way.

Some facts: Movie Factory 5, Win2k SP4, 1 GB RAM, 100 GB free HDD space, Intel P4 Prescott 2,8 GHz, DVD movies come from Sony DCR-DVD 404.

To JOIN all the video clips, highlight all of them by holding down the Left <CTRL>key & selecting them ALL with the mouse, then click on the JOIN Icon.
Then when you export the video all the files will have to be there.

After you join the videos then "Check the Properties of the Video" by highlighing the thumbnail and clicking on the "I" Icon or right click on the JOINed video file (thumbnail) and select 'Media Clip Properties".
A popup box will appear displaying the "Projects Attributes" and all the files that are used to create one video file (joined together).

Hope this helps,

... thanks, you described the procedure like I made it.
But again, the last clip is missing.

Maybe a problem with last clip?
Does the program seem to abort the creation of the new video file towards the end?
Don't know. Drag the last clip to the front (first) as a test and see if all 3 render. If it fails then trim a few frames from the end of the problem clip and use the "Fast Export" (single clip). Sometimes fast export can correct a corrupted file (but you need to modify it in some way, this is why I say to trim a few frames, MF will re-timestamp the file again). If you don't modify the file that has a problem then the fast export will just perform a copy. Anyway maybe then try using the new fast exported file in place of the original.

merging three clips

... having exactly done what you suggested, the last clip is still missing. Strange.
No, it does not look like an error - the program is merging for ca. 30 minutes, and it displays the estimated time so at the beginning.
Remember my second test:
2. I put the last clip as the first clip in the storyboard then merge the clips again. The export file is complete by now ! But certainly in the wrong sequence.
