VS 11 try before you buy edition

Post by Jim Thomas »

Hi
I downloaded this software on the recomendation of Samsung who made my camcorder (SC-DC163). It uses dvd-r. I try to import video from the disc via my dvd player and I can see it , hear the audio, but dont seem to be able to save it anywhere. Corel wouldn't say if this feature was diabled..how can you try it if you can't edit? Can anyone help? I'm reluctant to buy if it doesn't work for my camera (mpeg 2)

Do you mean you have your set-top DVD player connected to your pc?

Try putting the DVD into your pc's DVD tray (it may have to be finalized) and use the VS Import from DVD/DVD-VR command from the Capture tab.

No, not my set top,
I played it in my computer dvd/cd burner player. I could see the video in the capture window of VS 11, and it showed all the chapters etc. I could play it and hear it but there was no save button, nor could I drag it to the timeline. In addition, some brainless wonder at Corel, disabled the help files in the 'try before you buy' edition (Corel told me). How smart is that? So basically I did what you suggested?

Did you put a check in the boxes next to the title(s) and/or chapter(s) you wanted to import?

BTW, the help file is not included due to download size/time. However, you can view/print the pdf of the user's manual.

Ok! Thank you that worked! I went ahead and bought the programme and after some trouble with the key/serial# and a call to Corel, I was able to load and run it.
They told me it had the help file in this vesion, but it was the same size as the TBYB version, so I figured it was missing.... and it is. I'll try again to download the pdf link you gave me (froze earlier) Thanks for your help!
Cheers

If you bought the download version, Corel should have given you three links to 3 separate packages. The first is the main program. The second is an Extra Content file which contains the help files amongst other things. And the third link is to Bonus Content (and including WinDVD and Cool 3D). For some reason, Corel has recently only been giving the first link.

Ken
I eventually got a message (e-mail) from Corel. It was my receipt and was supposed to come 30 mins. after I got notification of my purchase which was earlier in the day, around noon. I got it t 9:30 pm. It had ftp links for the programme and the extra files you mentioned and they D/L in 8 mins. (each) The site 'support' gave me, each file would have taken 3 hours!
Thanks fo your help....sorry to be so long winded.
Thanks to Jeff too!
Jim :)
