vstudio.exe - Application Error

vstudio.exe - Application Error
This message has come up when I want to go back and make some minor adjustments:
"The instruction at '0x0d697545' referenced memory at '0x0d697545'. The memory could not be 'read'.
Click on OK to terminate program
Click on CANCEL to debug program"
Help! This is very frustrating in that it didn't do it a week ago when I wanted to the same type of slight adjustment.
Thanks

That sort of message can happen in a couple of circumstances. The simplest (potentially) is that some aspect of Video Studio has come into conflict with some other program which is running on your computer, and both are trying to access the same address in your RAM at the same time, and the other program has got there first. That's one of the reasons we suggest you turn off as many background programs and operations as possible while running Video Studio.... Sometimes turning off VS, or more extreme, rebooting the computer, can solve the problem.
More seriously, that sort of message can also be a harbinger of problems with one of your sticks of RAM. For example, I started getting this message a couple of weeks after buying a new computer. I tried everything else to rectify it, thinking that since the computer was so new, nothing would be wrong with its hardware. But finally, the company that made the computer for me sent me a RAM test and when I ran it a few times, it turned out one small part of one stick of RAM was failing to carry out an operation. The company replaced the stick for me and I never got the message again. So you might want to do a Google for a RAM test (generally freeware) and run it a few times. If nothing else, it will settle your mind that your RAM is fine... And if not, well, at least RAM is relatively cheap these days.

Problem Solved
I shut down an application that had been running and that seems to have solved the problem. But, this same application was running on my previous adjustments! Don't ask me why! Sometimes computers have a mind of their own!
Richard
It was Orb which, when I shut it off, settled things down a bit to allow me to do one short project but now I'm getting the same application error message but with different numbers even with Orb shut down. I guess I'll call the Dell techies tomorrow and see what they say. In the meantime, I remain
FRUSTRATED!
