VS11 randomly and suddenly crashes

Post by Suzanne »

Its been happening when I open files or try to export a file as anything. When I'm opening files, it quits only sometimes, but it has quit every time I try to export.

Its really frustrating, because there is not much i can do with the program right now. I tried reinstalling the whole thing, didn't help.

The files I am working with are rather largish, a couple of gigs, so I don't know if that has something to do with the crashes.

Any help is welcome.

What format are these files and where did they come from? (If they are "AVI" files, please tell us what compression is used. AVI is a container format and it can contain anything from DV to DivX.)

The more compressed formats are the most likely to cause trouble when you try to edit or convert them. For example, DivX and MOV files (MPEG-4 variations) seem to cause lots of trouble. MPEG-2 files can sometimes cause trouble too. The most trouble-free format is AVI/DV, which requires 13GB per hour.

A couple of gigs is on the small side for a video file... A single-layer DVD holds 4.38GB, which is just about right for a high-quality 90 minute movie. (Video-DVDs are MPEG-2)

First, does this happens only when you use a VideoStudio? Crashing softwares doesn't necessarily mean a faulty installion or a bug, sometimes a hardware failure or OS conflict may be the cause of a software crash.

If you are working on a .MOV file, chances are, the crash was caused by this file.

Please download the following file and save it (overwrite) to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\VIO" directory. ftp://userdl:guest@ftpph.ulead.com/uvqt.vio Make sure VideoStudio is not running before applying the patch.
