Convert PAL to NTSC

Post by Video_guy »

I've got a problem.

I live and work here in the UK and I produce corporate video's etc. as part of my day to day job using the PAL format.

The problem I have got is, my company are going over to Orlando (USA) in October to a Food Procesing Exhibition and we are Hiring Plasma Screens & DVD Players to show our products.

Can I Convert my (PAL) DVD's to the NTSC format using Media Studio 8, so that I can play our product DVDs on the equipment over in the USA.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris

I've never done a conversion before but if I was doing it, I'd set up a new project with NTSC settings and import and re-render the project or clip to that format in MSP then author to DVD in NTSC via Movie Factory.
Thanks & regards.

The best way of doing this is to enter your PAL project normally and Create an NTSC AVI, using the same codec and settings (except where standards-related). You can then burn an NTSC DVD from this. Do NOT try to do this from a PAL DVD or DVD-compliant files. You will have to redo the DVD menus in whatever you use for authoring.

I always thought DVD-players could manage both PAL and NTSC.

Most PAL DVD Players can play NTSC DVD's. But most NTSC DVD Players CANNOT play PAL DVD's (although there seems to be more that can these days).
