file exceeds the file system limit

Post by wguru »

Tried to export a video I captured (VHS to digital, not an issue I suspect) but oddly (?) it failed with a prompt saying 'file exceeds the file system limit'. I think much of this issue is the result of my using the 'fast export' and overlooking the save properties (as opposed to the original capture properties of '6 into 1'), because as soon as I used the '6 into 1' export properties, the file exports just fine.

But I had thought that the file system limit' issue was related to to my MF's working folder (being set for my partitioned 10 GB HD drive), but that drive had better than 4GB free space, so I tried exporting the same .7GB video to my external HD, but same prompt msg.

But is there somewhere one can increase the settings for file system limit, or is the issue one of what properties one captures the video to begin with and what properties one exports it as?

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

Are you using hard drives with a FAT32 filing system (4GB maximum file size) or an NTFS filing system (No such limit)

increase the settings for file system limit

Thanks for the reply, but as I said, I think this's an issue with MF and not my drives.

Note that as mentioned, I switched my working folder to my EXH (FAT32 no less) and all's fine, except that I must export the file in the same manner which it was created ('6 into 1', i.e.; actually "Archive 6 VCD's onto 1 DVD").

I'm sure the export issue (resulting in the rather nefarious prompt of "increase the settings for file system limit") exists regardless if I would have or go back to my NTFS onboard file system's partitioned drive.

But thanks for the reply. Good to know about FAT32 drives (its filing system wasn't up front divulged or I'd gotten an NTFS one like my others) and I'm sure your comment about that is valid for some FAT32 EHD's, but I haven't seen it to be true for mine.

Lastly, I just now realized that the 'format' for the '6 into 1' is for VCD to DVD. Seems I read into it as 6 DVD's into 1 DVD. Wonder what this means to my mpg's that I have exported (they all VCD, but DVD compatible formats?).

Best regards and happe-trails,
