Pal to Ntsc

Post by sgsusu »

I am using vs11. When I first installed I selected Pal as my preference, but now I want to produce videos in Ntsc. I can manually amend the project settings to Ntsc but every new project reverts to Pal. How can I amend this permanently?

Apologies if this is already in a post but I searched and couldnt find a relevant one.

Based on earlier versions the only known cure is to uninstall then re-install assigning the new default TV system, in your case, NTSC.

Thanks, I have tried that on my work pc but I lost the library of video clips. Is there any way I can save these and copy them back when I have reinstalled - so I can do it on my home laptop?

I actually don't think an uninstall will lose you any existing video or audio assets. It may "appear" they are gone as the new installation will not be linked to those files through the library manager or any project file. All you should have to do would be to re-link.
In any case it is a simple matter to just back up anything you have then do the re-installation.

Just go to FILE / PRFERENCES / GENERAL tab and look for the "Working Folder" entry. That will show you to the path for you video files. Usually it will be in a folder called "Ulead Video Studio" in your My Documents folder.

Hi sgsusu

Your library files (should be) saved here:-

C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0

They are called :-

VS_Video.dat

VS_Title.dat

Audio¡K..Etc¡K..

If you copy these files, then reinstall VS, you can replace the copied library files.

If you re-installed VS you will loose the library files, the re-installed files being the default files

Hope this helps
