Problem with adding chapters VS 11+

Post by Techyman »

I upgraded to VS 11+ and was very happy. Everything worked great. I then had a harddrive problem and had to reformat my drive. I reloaded VS 11+ and everthing seems to work until I go to share and attempt to add chapters. Normally, I could edit the file in editor and then I would just click the option to insert chapters where I split the file in editor. Unfortunately, all of the options are grayed out except for "add chapter every "x" minutes." I can't click anything but that and when I do, I get the "Video Studio has encountered an error and needs to close error."

This has happened with .mpeg, .mpeg2, .wmv files and others. I even made a short video out of all the little sample videos that came with VS and it did the same thing. Files that worked fine before now crash the program.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Your reformat and re-installation of Windows has probably set you back as far as DirectX goes. Go to the Microsoft update site and update your DirectX drivers and this will probably resolve it.

Lance's advice is correct as long as you have XP or earlier as your operating system. The update patch for DirectX you should look for is the one dated June 2007.
