Sustained-Note Type Auto Music

Post by susantexas1 »

Friends,

I find myself continually in need of prolonging the entry or ending musical note for a particular video section in my projects. The supplied manipulations such as Audio Filters and Playback Speed options are typically not subtle enough for my sound needs. I'm looking for the ability to have (just as an example) a TA-DA type ending sound last longer, perhaps as an overlap or segue into the next section of video, so it's now TA-DAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH, if that makes sense.

I've rigged wind sounds, chopped up existing Smartsound pieces created into little sound files, etc. in an attempt to get those few extra seconds of sustained note I'm looking for, but wonder if anyone could suggest existing sound palettes, whether free or for purchase which would perhaps better address these types of low-key, background, sustainable note situations?

BTW, I own several of the Smartsound CDs, and a couple of individual clips, especially if manipulated, come close, like from their Cinematic Excellence and Sound Palette choices. So maybe I just haven't found the right disc?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Audacity is a free audio editor that may be able to do what you want.

You could take one of the SmartSound pieces, export it to a wav file. Then use Audacity to place a delay on the last note(s).

Since you are using SmartSound discs, have you thought about purchasing SonicFire Pro 4.5? It is really versatile with their sound packages, especially the Strata Series.

Thank you, both, for the prompt reply and good suggestions. I've now downloaded both Audacity and the trial version of SonicFire Pro, which I'm happy to purchase if need be. I also re-listened to one of the Auto Music discs, Sinister Cinema, which has several 'dark' selections, including some that hold long notes. I've exported a couple as sound clips and they are already working nicely for me, too.

I mainly just wanted to be sure there wasn't some duh, everybody's-using-it, type thing I was missing for video background music situations like these, tee hee.

Thanks, again.
